A Modern Farmhouse in Canyon Creek

Sometimes a project comes along that you just want to pinch yourself because you get to create it. This was one of those for all of us at Summey Industries, but in particular for me (Dana) because it was just a designer's dream. An old, outdated house, with good bones and a superb location was the start of this modern farmhouse. Blog followers want to hear what we transformed in a house, but in this case a better question is "what didn't we do?" to this house.

We came in, listened to what the family, hoped for, needed, and dreamed then got to work. With the client's input, I curated some selections which resulted in a final product that was better than I imagined.

To finish the project, our team tore down three walls to open the living, kitchen, and dining. We made the kitchen long and open, and squared off the breakfast nook with a gorgeous barn door.

Front door was a custom designed, Wood Flooring

Removing clunky/outdated built-ins and giving them new doors, painting contrast kitchen cabinets, and incorporating fun gold cabinet hardware were all part of our plan to overhaul this space. We took advantage of every inch of space for this family of 6. We changed out the carpet in All the bedrooms got new carpet application and all bedroom built-ins got a face-lift as well. A gut job on the hall bathroom included a new vanity, toilet, shower/tub and new tile. We installed fun retro pulls on the custom navy vanity to add whimsy, and maximized space with Ikea drying racks in the bathroom and laundry room.

The plumbing hardware in the kids hall bath is the Delta Ashlyn line in Chrome.

Next on the list was the master and master bath. While we updated the master bedroom with a simple coat of paint, new trim, new door and new french doors to the back yard, the master bathroom had to be completed re-configured. We knocked down every wall dividing up this space and designed the new master suite (including bath and closet) around a nice big luxurious shower.

This mudroom piece was custom designed to accommodate 4 kids!

We maximized every space in creative ways, like adding a stand up shower off the laundry room so that guests staying in their upstairs room would have a full bathroom.

We love the result of this job!
